Oh hey! It’s me Donovan Kelly Jr.
Check out my awesome bio below! I was really into art and music as a child, but I started to fall out of the arts when I started middle school. I never knew about what a designer was or ever even considered it all throughout high school. While in high school, I began taking art and computer science classes every year. It was when I was in 11th grade I knew what I wanted to do after high school. I took a computer graphics class and fell in love with making logos, brochures, letterheads, envelopes, etc. After high school, I attended the Art Institute of Washington from 2008 to 2012. It was an amazing experience and being near like-minded designers and artists really helped me to push forward and strive to be the best I can be. My professors really were the best mentors and never allowed me to do “bad” work. It was a place where I could go to be myself. While in the art institute, I did freelance logo work for a company called Green Connections Radio, a radio company for empowering women that work in energy and economy. After graduating I began working at a small advertising and events studio call Starlite Studios. There is where I did most of my freelance work and worked with clients to make logo branding, websites, banners, and graphics for events. In 2014, I began working for an information technologies service company called Astor & Sanders Corporation as a graphic designer. While working at Astor & Sanders, I created graphics for company proposals, update the company website, create trade show booths, and marketing collateral. I was also able to help the company on a contract we had with National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), where one of our hires resigned and I had to take over as a temporary web designer. While at NOAA, I launched a website that was scheduled to go live a week after I was hired as a temp, maintained the company’s website, updated our news section, and help begin the website’s transition into Drupal. As of now, I currently do freelance design and web work. Check out my resume here.
